A visit to the work of Open Arms International in Eldoret, Kenya. Alongside Helen the other team members are Natalie, age 15, and Jess, age 16, for whom this will be their first visit to Kenya and their first experience of this type of work.


Thailand: Dec 2009
This trip is run by CRED, a global development organisation, in association with a partner of theirs out in Thailand. We are a team of young, and young-at-heart, people going out to the Mae Sot region of Thailand to deliver an activity week to refugee children of the Karen people who have fled Burma. Our team includes school-age youngsters, and we will be working in the camp as well as the surrounding villages where the refugees are sheltering.


Nepal: Oct 2009
This is a 3-week trip to Nepal, co-leading a team from Soapbox Communications. We will be doing some painting and decorating of a school and orphanage in Kathmandu, working in children's ministry projects for some of the street kids and orphans, and also going out to some rural locations to support related projects.


Dance2Africa (Thornbury Youth Club in Kenya): Sept 2009
1-week trip to the Open Arms Village in Eldoret, Kenya, for Zoe (age 14), Vicky (age 16) and Maria (youth club leader), and Helen (team leader). An opportunity for the girls to see the work at first hand, and take part in delivery of the different aspects of Open Arms' work: feeding programme, street kids work, medical clinic, and of course time at the Village.


Uganda: Sept 2008
2-week short-term mission trip undertaken by a team of 11 from Thornbury Baptist church. Location is Mbale in SE Uganda. Partnering organisation is Oasis Uganda, and specifically the staff at the Beersheba project in Mbale.


Kenya: July 2008
Open Arms International outreach team, doing medical clinics and children's ministry in the Kambi Teso slum area, which is one of the poorest areas in Eldoret.
